How To Plan The Perfect Concert Outfit

To say I love music and going to concerts would be an understatement. It’s where I feel the most alive, the most me. So clearly, my outfit has to reflect that. This is why I take my concert outfit very seriously, as opposed to just seriously in my everyday life. Planning any outfit requires a careful list of variables to consider, and these are a few things I take into account when planning the perfect outfit for a concert:

1.  Who is it? What artist are you seeing?

The artist determines the genre and overall vibe of the look that you’re going for.

To use the last concert I attended as an example, I saw Harry Styles. Harry’s music is technically considered pop but leans more to a light rock. His style nowadays includes bold suits, with wide leg pants. As intentional as it is, he looks effortlessly put together. When shopping for a look, I asked myself, would this make sense when standing next to him? Would it look like we were at the same event?  Obviously, I did not know exactly what he would be wearing but I had a general idea, because he and I share similar styles. I went with a wide leg jumpsuit. It fit the overall atmosphere while staying true to my own style.  Jumpsuits can be dressed up or down,  which is what you want in an outfit for a concert, because you don't want to be too dressed up but just enough to stand out of the crowd.

2.  What’s the venue?

Is it an outdoor arena, indoor arena, standing room only etc.?  If the venue is an outdoor one, be prepared for every possible weather scenario. You don’t need to pack ponchos or a huge umbrella but a stylish, practical jacket would do the trick. Indoor venues get deceptively warm once the concert starts, with the lights and multiple bodies, don’t be surprised by the sweat running down halfway through the concert.  The safest bet is to dress in light layers.

3.       Is it stylish and comfortable?

You’re going to be in close quarters with people, where there will be lots of movement and excitement, so you don’t want to have to keep readjusting something or be in pain all night. When in doubt, go for your favorite pair of jeans. You know, the ones that make your butt look just right and put that pep in your step.  Pair them with a cute shirt that represents your style/personality, and comfortable shoes.

Side note: unless you are a habitual heel wearer, go for a flatter shoe or a heeled boot that’s easy to walk/ stand in.

If you keep these in mind when getting ready to see your favorite artist or band, you will "rock" it at any concert!
